Background

the word "Panchakanya" signifies five virgin girls whose presence is considered auspicious while welcoming distinguished personalities and valued guests as per the nepealease culture and tradition. In Hindu religion the word Panchakanya symbolizes five Goddesses; namely Durga, Sarshwati, Laxmi, Radha and Annapurna. The Sacred temple of Panchakanya is situated in far eastern region of Nepal. Family members of Panchakanya Group pay high regard and maintain and preserve the temple.

The vision and leadership quality of the chairman has established the image of the Group, "Panchakanya" as a well recognized brand name in the country and a popular name in business arena. During the 1970s Panchakanya Group entered into business through trade in timber. Some saw mills were also in operation during those times to support timber trade. Basically, its maiden industrial venture started in 1971 with the promotion of a modern rice mill in Jhapa, eastern part of Nepal. Decision to establish an agro-based industry earned goodwill and trust in the market and developed confidence amongst financial & credit institutions. Since then the unending journey towards industrial ventures began. With the turn of the century Panchakanya Group has been able to establish and manage more than ten industries under its umbrella. The Annual turnover of Panchakanya Group as a whole was NPR two billion during last fiscal year.

Commitment of the top level management at panchakanya towards quality production was fulfilled with recognition as the "First steel industry to be bestowed the NS mark and NS quality award 1999 certified by Nepal Bureau of Standard. Besides it also became first industry in Nepal to be certified ISO: 9001 by Lloyds' Quality Assurance Register.

Panchakanya TMT Steel bar, new generation high strength ribbed reinforcement bar, with Thermo Cooling Technology, licensed under Hennigsdorier Stethi Engg. GmbH (HSE), Germany was manufactured for the first time in the year 2002 and was introduced in the market. The Group has been marching with the slogan "Always First, Always Ahead".
