Bitumen and Emulsion

Nepal bitumen and barrel udyog Ltd. (NBBUL), a public company established by Nepal Oil Corporation Limited in 1984 is now taken over by Panchakanya Group - a leading industrial and trading house of Nepal, under privatization programme of his majesty's Government.

Plants and Products:

Barrels, Drums and containers:
The modern barrel plant is capable of producing mild steel containers of different designs, dimensions and thickness suitable for the packaging of liquid and semi-liquid products. The containers are manufactured by using quality cold rolled sheets and are painted in attractive colours to meet customer requirements. High quality, low cost and functional characteristic provide complete satisfaction to the users. NBBUL is the only industry manufacturing160 litre drums and 200 litre barrels in the country.

Containers 20 and 50 litre capacity.

Bitumen:
Bitumen is exclusively used as binder in road construction and maintenance. NBBUL imports 80/100 prime grade bitumen, direct from the refinery in bulk and refills it in its self produced 160 litre capacity drums of 0.63 mm thickness. Its automatic filling plant equipped with photo-censored device has efficient and accurate filling capacity. NBBUL is the only industry to supply bitumen in the kingdom. It provides test certificate along with every consignment. It can also arrange site delivery on request.

Bitumen Emulsion:
Bitumen emulsions are dispersion of very fine bitumen particles in an aqueous medium. These liquid products are functional in use and find a wide application in road construction and maintenance, water proofing, soil stabilization and in many other special circumstances where cold application of bitumen is desirable. Bitumen emulsion may be of Cationic or Anionic type. Cationic bitumen emulsion, nowadays, has become more popular in use because of its better qualities than that of bitumen.

Process of Production:
These emulsions are produced by processing prime quality 80/100 grade bitumen, water and high quality emulsifier under controlled production parameters such as PH, temperature, etc. The hi-tech colloid mill with its superfine milling efficiency provides fine and narrow particle distribution which gives the emulsion an increased storage stability and higher viscosity. The quality of the emulsion is controlled at every step of production and is tested in the laboratory.

CATIONIC BITUMEN EMULSION-A True Friend Of Environment:
A cationic bitumen is designed to suit the climatic and traffic conditions of our country by formulating high quality ingredients in most advanced formulae. It is environment friendly and is in liquid form ready for application. No heating is required, thus it creates no air pollution, saves energy and the adhesive property of the binder remains intact. The brown colored emulsion-changes to black on breaking, remains sufficiently fluid during application and gets a fabulous end result.

It's strong cationic charge, when spread to the aggregate; helps bitumen particles to adhere rapidly and firmly into the negatively charged aggregate (usually available in our country). As a result it provides excellent and durable bonding to the road and it can be opened quickly to traffic. The adhesion agent, also known as anti-stripping agent, present in the emulsion provides longer life to the pavement.
